Remembering Grandma Babe

My (Drew) Grandma Moser (affectionately known as "Grandma Babe") passed away the morning after Thanksgiving. Her health had been in decline for the past 6 months, so her passing was expected, but still very hard. She was a 'matriarch' in the truest and purest sense of the word. She was a pillar of faith; a devoted prayer warrior; a woman of God's Word.

In all my life, I don't ever remember her saying anything negative about anyone. If she ever inched close to an insult, she would always be sure to cover her tracks with an emphatic "Bless their heart..."

She loved her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and nieces/nephews unconditionally....and she made the best cinnamon rolls on earth. Hands. Down.

Her funeral service was on Tuesday. For a woman of 93, who lived in a town where the population is declining, her little country church was bursting with people with touching and powerful stories of the way Grandma Babe blessed others. Her church was in between "preachers" and so the family did the service by committee. I think she preferred it this way.

Her life was marked by a simple, powerful faith that sustained her through many trials and hardships. Through it all, she loved so well.

Goodbye for now, Grandma Babe. You are missed already.

What a blessing that she got to meet your kids and for them to spend time with her. We're thinking of you and Drew's family.
