Papa's Birthday

We were in Indianapolis this weekend for Papa's birthday. Benjamin of course had to help blow out the candles. He was very excited and insisted on doing it 'one more time'.

Benjamin had a blast out in the garden and wanted to pick everything in it. He had to carry the pumpkin by himself even though I could tell he was straining to hold it. He finally asked daddy to 'help'.

There were tons of red tomatoes which was very exciting.

Benjamin's watermelon that he selected and then dropped.

Playing baseball before heading to the Children's Museum. Benjamin was so tired by the time we got to the carousel that he didn't even throw a fit when he had to get off like he did the last time he was on one.

Benjamin loved this little kitchen and served us all up something heated in the microwave and then cooled in the fridge. Scottish hats....okay so Benjamin's is from Old Navy but he doesn't know the difference.

Meet the Buckeyes' Secret Weapon...

Meet Ben's new favorite toy, courtesy of Uncle Matt and Aunt Julie. He sleeps with this thing just about every night, and is constantly pulling this Buckeye Potato Head apart and putting him back together. He even decided that this spud was missing a crucial piece: hair. And not just any hair: this spud needed an Afro. So he found a hair tie and put it around his helmet!
(No joke, he did this on his own).

So look out Wolverines!
The Buckeyes have a spud ready to strike the Heisman pose in the end zone all day long.

Shameless Plug: Sara's Garden

My family is heavily involved with a non-profit ministry called Sara's Garden. Sara's Garden (named after Bekah's sister Sara Rychener/Burkholder) is a hyperbaric oxygen therapy center, conductive education therapy provider, and a host of other services to people with special needs, primarily children with Cerebral Palsy. Bekah even bases her massage therapy business out of their main building, and offers massage therapy to clients and relatives.

Sara's Garden exists to offer services that are desperately needed, but so often not covered by insurance providers. They offer expensive services at minimal cost, and rely on donors to help cover the gap.

Every year, Sara's Garden hosts a big fundraiser to keep their budget balanced, and grow into the future. The ministry just took a huge leap of faith, and broke ground on a new building, which will primarily be used for their conductive education program (an innovative approach to helping children with C.P. gain critical motor skills and coordination).

Fish

At the beginning of the summer, Benjamin was not a huge fan of the pool, was scared of jumping off the edge and hated wearing his pool hat. I don't know what changed but a couple of weeks ago he decided that he loves the pool, loves jumping off the edge, and loves wearing his pool hat. Now we can't get him out of the water.
