We spent this past week on the shores of Lake Michigan with Drew's family. The kids were itching to go for weeks and had a lovely time.
We ate a quick dinner Saturday night when we arrived and then headed down to the beach. The water was so warm. We all were surprised at how warm it was. The kids had a blast jumping in the waves. If I had known that night that the water would rapidly decrease in temperature every day we were there, I would have stayed in the water with the kids for hours and not worried about bedtime that night.Papa and Benjamin scaring a flock of seagulls.
Isa was excited to collect feathers. It kind of grossed me out but she was happy so I didn't ruin her fun.
Stella was at the near perfect age to take to the beach--still little but steady on her feet to run in and out of waves, completely entertained by the sand but wise enough not to eat it, young enough to look cute with a wedgie, etc. I loved watching her enjoy the beach.
As the weather got more and more cool, we tried to be creative with other kinds of fun. Water balloon launching was a favorite activity.
Stella and Charlotte always ran straight for the water when we got to the beach. When a wave would get close to them, they would scream and run away from it. Over and over. It never got old. For them or for me watching them.
Once the water became painfully cold, the kids enjoyed burying each other and breaking out from under the sand.

Drew and I took a walk at sunset one night. It was sooo peaceful. The water was still and the sky was beautiful.
I had a plain grey swimming suit on as we were leaving for the beach one day. Stella asked me to change into my polka dot suit so we could match. Well, how do you say no to that?

Isa and Papa made a mama and baby alligator. She was pretty proud of their work.
We went to a local fruit farm and picked blueberries one day. They were delicious. It reminded me so much of our days picking blueberries in Vancouver where I first learned to love blueberries.
The kids stayed up one night to watch the sunset. We got so tickled at Sam sitting down in the water by himself. Drew's parents said it looked like I had put him in a time out.
The cousins.
And the whole fam.
Until next time...
