On the Move

Samuel is on the move. Nope, not crawling but belly flopping. He will go wherever (on the floor) and grab whatever he chooses which is usually something of Benjamin's or Eloisa's. Eloisa has started scolding him, "Mine!  No, Tammm!" not understanding that Samuel is just a baby and not trying to be naughty. (Since she gets in trouble for grabbing things out of his hands. Oh, we're so unfair.)

We kept trying to get a video of Sam's seal flop but everything that entices Samuel is something of theirs so they kept grabbing it before he could get to it. The first video is posted just because I laughed out loud at Drew 'scooping' Isa out of the picture only to have Benjamin swoop in and grab the prize. Drew sent them on a mission in the second video to find Eena (Benjamin's monkey) and it didn't take them as long as we thought it would but Drew was able to distract them long enough for Samuel to get the sippy cup.

Random Fun

Lots of wrestling took place this week in our apartment.  Eloisa can finally wrestle with the boys without getting scared and mad.  

Wednesday was a BEE-utiful day here in Vancouver.  Sunny blue skies.  So I took a towel to the park, wiped off all the rain, and the kids and I spent the entire morning outside.  I put Samuel in the swing for the first time.  Typical Sam reaction: a sweet smile to say he approved.  

Benjamin ran around wild with these three little girls who are all just 6 months younger than him.  Can you just feel their joy?  Lord, thank you for sunshine.  It's good for kids and it's good for mamas.

We're in Love

Drew, Benjamin, Eloisa and I are all in love with this little guy.  If Drew or I pick Sam up off of the floor, Benjamin says, "Please give me my Sam back."

Birthday Weekend

My birthday was Friday and we celebrated with the NieuCommunities apprentices.  The cake only had one candle but it took five people two tries to blow it out.

Apparently, our house is clothing optional.  Benjamin dancing for all of our friends.

Saturday was Isa's birthday.  Isa got some fun doll house people from 'Gam'.  Benjamin completely took over the doll house family when Isa opened up her gift from us and didn't let them go the rest of the weekend. Thanks Grandma Pam!

We got Isa this little doll. She opened it up and just grinned and said, "Baby."   The Stella Doll has a magnetic pacifier, magnetic cupcake, a bib, a birthday hat, and a little present with a pink stuffed cat inside for hours of 2 year old fun.

Happy Birthday to you, Eloisa Joy.  You are precious, beautiful, hilarious, and we cannot imagine our family without you.  Our hearts are full today of joy and thankfulness and love for you.

You need a little self-esteem boost?

Come hang out at our house for a little while.  Benjamin has the gift of encouragement.  I heated up some leftover taco mixture (just beans, rice, corn, and ground beef) for lunch today.  I put the bowl in front of Benjamin.  He took a big bite.

Benjamin: Mmm! [pause while he continues to chew]  Mmmmm!  My like this.  You make this, mama?

Me: Yes.

Benjamin: Mmm!  My like it.  You're the best cooker, mama.  You're the best cooker my ever seen.

[Anyone that really knows me knows this is not true. :)  And there is no need to mention we eat this meal once a week because it's easy and cheap and he always eats it all but he has never had this enthusiastic of a response before.]

And because I don't want to forget, I will just type out my two other favorite Benjamin quotes of the week.  

We have been prepping Benjamin for Isa's birthday for a few weeks so that he would be really excited for her at her party and not 'take over' with the candles, cake and gifts.  He did amazing.  He brought her the presents but then stepped back and watched with delight as she opened them.  After her party, Drew bent down and whispered to Benjamin, "I am so proud of you, Benjamin.  You were such a sweet big brother and it pleases my heart that you were so excited for her."  Benjamin's response, "Daddy, it smells like cake in your mouth."

And then this morning Benjamin wanted to pray before breakfast.  "Thank you for our great life.  Thank you for the great Son (or sun?).  Thank you for Isa and Isa birthday.  Thank you for aaaaalll of our hearts.  Amen."

Let the Celebration Begin!

A week from today little miss Eloisa Joy will turn two years old!  And it's the first time we get to celebrate her birthday with her in our presence!  Yay!  She was absolutely precious tonight.  So cute with her cake and presents.  She played hard and got to stay up an extra hour because of the time change.  She got lots of play things like a doll stroller, pots and pans, cooking utensils, baby bottles, doll quilt and pillow, etc. so by the end of the night she looked like a drunken homemaker.  She could hardly walk but she couldn't stop playing.

She was so quick to blow out her candles that no one got a picture of it.  Here she is with her cake after the candles came out.  I told her to dig in.  Really, mama???  We are always telling her not to play with her food and so she was pretty hesitant to destroy the cake.

So instead of tearing it apart with her hands, she just stuck her face in it.  

This is really fun!  

She made the cutest little faces opening her gifts.  So serious.

Kristi (and let's just say Tim too) made Isa the most precious little book of God's Truths for Eloisa Joy with bible verses.  I couldn't get through one verse without a huge lump in my throat appearing.  You are a precious gift, Eloisa, created and loved by the Lord your God. 

Sweet little books from Geoff and Anne.  

New doll (or Care Bear) stroller from Uncle Travis, Auntie Annette and Charlotte which she crashed into every door jam and her brother's legs over and over again.  That's our sweet, gentle little girl.  

Nana (and let's just say Papa too) made Isa a doll quilt and pillow.  She insisted on taking it to bed with her.  

It was a wonderful little party celebrating one sweet little life.  Round two celebration is one week from today.
